Abstrak :

            This research is motivated by a number of problems, namely, students do not like Indonesian language lessons, especially listening to fairy tales lessons seen from students' seriousness while studying, besides, students' understanding of listening to fairy tales is still low, which is caused by students not concentrating on listening. Not only that, when the learning process takes place the teacher only reads the fairy tale text. This study aims to describe the effect of the use of audio media on the ability to listen to fairy tales of class X students of SMAN 2 Coastal Areas of Pesisir Selatan Regency. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive methods. The population in this study were students of class X of SMAN 2 Coastal Area of ​​Pesisir Selatan Regency. The sampling technique used in this study is total sampling. This research instrument is an objective test sheet listening to fairy tales. The variables of this study were listening to folklore skills by using audio media for students of class X of SMAN 2 in the Coastal Area of ​​Pesisir Selatan Regency. Data obtained in the form of a score of ability to listen to fairy tales of class X students of SMA 2 Ranah Pesisir, Pesisir Selatan Regency using audio media. Based on haisl research, two things were concluded. First, the ability to listen to fairy tales using perfectly qualified audio media (S) with an average (97.32) is in the range (96-100%). Second, there are significant differences in learning outcomes in listening to fairy tales using audio media
