Abstrak :

Purpose of this study was to find out whether the learning strategy of the Preview Question Read Reflect Recite Review (PQ4R) affects the ability to understand the student mathematical concepts at VIII Junior High School or not. Type of research was Pre-Experimental Design using One Shot Case Study design. Population was all VIII students of SMP Pertiwi Siteba, Padang. Sampling was conducted randomly with the selected sample i.e. class VIII.1. The instrument was final test in the form of a valid and reliable essay. Data analysis technique used t test. Based on data analysis, it is concluded that the Preview Question Read Reflect Recite Review (PQ4R) learning strategy affects the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts.
