In general, fish can be defined as a group of poikilotermal (cold-blooded) aquatic vertebrates that have gills to breathe and move in water with the aid of a fin. River Lubuk Tano is a rocky river, sandy, has a wide body of river and the flow of water flowing calmly until rushing. This river is used as a source of food that is catching fish. Fishing is often used by using electrofishing, resulting in reduced fish species. This study aims to determine the types of fish caught in the river Lubuk Tano subdistrict Ranah Batahan west Pasaman district. This research was conducted in July 2017 by using descriptive survey method and sampling with road sampling method. The fishing gear used is the fishing net, gill net, fishpond, fishing rod and electrofishing. Sample identification was done in Zoology Laboratory of Biology Education Program STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. Based on research that has been done got 9 species of fish from 3 ordo and 5 family. The 9 species of fish are Tor tambroides, Lobocheilos falcifer, Rasbora sumatrana, Osteochilus hasseltii, Osteochilus waandersii, Nemacheilus pfeifferae, Mystus nemurus, Glyptothorax platypogonoides, Oreochromis niloticus. As well as the result of measurement of physical and chemical factors of water obtained still support for fish life.
