The problem in this research is, lack of schools that know the function of museums as a source to learn about history for High School students in the Padang city. The problem examined in this research is how the background and perception of high school history teachers to make the Adityawarman Museum as a source to learn about history. The purpose of this research is to describe the background problems and perceptions of teachers to make the Adityawarman museum as a source to learn about history. The method that uses in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The location of research is in the Adityawarman Museum, SMA Negeri 4 Padang, SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP Padang, SMA Negeri 3 Padang, and SMA Negeri 12 Padang. The interviewees in this reasearch are a Museum Guide of Adityawarman and history teacher. Data collection techniques that be used were observation, documentation and interviews. And then, data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research are, firstly, a lot of historical relics that just written in books but not displayed. And then, perception from history teacher of High School about function of the Adityawarman Museum as a research on studying history for the High School students in Padang city. The conclusion of this research is, firstl, the background of the high school history teacher made the Adityawarman Museum a source of history learning at the High School of Padang city. And then, Perceptions of history teacher about the function of the Adityawarman museum as a source of history learning for high school students in the Padang city.
