Abstrak :

This researched was motivated by several problems including, students are less active in asking questions about science materials that are not yet understood, students have not set the time to study, students have not designes the concept objectives of the lesson to be learned, students have not planned goals before learning, student have not thought about the science learning outcomes obtained in accordance with the  target, so t is less aware in regulating and controlling the way of learning. The study aims to determine the relationship of metacognition abilities with the science learning outcomes of class VIII student’s at SMPN 6 Payakumbuh. This research is a descriptive research, by taking until using a Proportional Random Sampling technique. The instrument in the study was a guttman scale questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment (PPM) formula, significance test at 95% confidence level (α = 0.05), and linear regression test. The research results obtained by rxy = 0.55 with a strong enough correlation, significance test results obtained tcount ≥ ttable is 4.30 ≥ 2.021 then Ha is accepted, and the linear regression test results obtained values ​​Ŷ = 19.30 + 0.58 (X). From the results of this study it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between metacognition abilities and the science learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMPN 6 Payakumbuh.
