Learning physics in schools using a scientific approach has not gone well. Students are less active in participating in learning. This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning models assisted by simulation media on physics learning outcomes of students of class XI IPA SMA PGRI 1 Padang. This type of research is quasy experiment, with a randomized control group only design research design. This research was conducted in two sample classes, namely class XI IPA1 and class XI IPA2 in SMA PGRI 1 Padang. The instruments used in this study were essay tests and observation assessment sheets. The results obtained in the average cognitive domain for learning outcomes in the experimental class 61.64 while the average value in the control class 55.013. In the affective domain, the average experimental class was 59.25 and the average control class was 54.16. Then do the hypothesis testing obtained value Z calculate = 4.20 with Ztable = 1.96. So Z calculate > Ztable. This means that HI is accepted because the value of Z is calculated in the rejection area of the hypothesis H0. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model assisted by simulation media on the physics learning outcomes of students of class XI IPA of SMA PGRI 1 Padang.
