Abstrak :

        The research is motivated by the problem of students not yet skilled in rewriting anecdotal texts. This study aims to describe the effect of the use of Explicit Instruction learning models assisted by audio visual media on the ability to re-ceate anecdotal text in class X students of SMAN 4 Padang. This type of research is classified as quantitative research with experimental methods. The design of this study is Postest Only Contol Design. The sample of this study was 64 students in grade X of SMAN 4 Padang. The results of this study are collected as follows. First, the ability to re-create anecdotal texts without using a model obtained an average value of 52,47 with a range of 46-55%. Secondly, the ability to re-ceate anecdotal texts using Explicit Instruction learning models assisted by audio visual media obtained an average value of 63,41 with a range of 56-65%. Third, based on the results of the t-test, it was concluded that the use of the Explicit Instruction learning model assisted by audio visual media influenced the ability to re-create anecdotal tect in gade X students of SMAN 4 Padang because tcount > ttable 7,92>1,67.
