Abstrak :

            This study is motivated by the lack of understanding of mathematical concepts of students towards learning mathematics and students easily forget the concepts of learning material. This study aims to find out how to increase students understanding of mathematical concepts in class VIII.2 of SMP Pertiwi 2 Padang by applying the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model. This type of study is a pre-experimental study with a pretest and posttest group test design. The sample of this study was class VIII.2. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The instruments used in this study were pretest and posttest. Data processing to see the improvement used is N-Gain. The calculation results obtained an N-Gain value of 0.54 so that the conclusion is that the increase in students mathematical concept comprehension ability is in the medium criteria, it means that the improvement of students mathematical concept comprehension ability by applying cooperative learning models of Think Pair Share (TPS) type is not good enough.
