Abstrak :

The background of this research were because the student felt difficult to understand the text writing process and to construct words into paragraph. This research aims at to describing the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning Model  toward the writing ability of descriptive text of the student of class VII SMP N  1 KecamatanKapur IX, regency of 50 Kota. This research is quantitative research whit using experimental method. The design of this research is posttest only control design. The population of this research is all of the students in seventh SMP N  1 Kecamatan Kapur IX, regency of 50 Kota. The bukti is 55 people. The data in this research were writing ability score of descriptive text without and with methodContextual Teachiing and Learning Model of the seventh student of seventh SMP N  1 Kecamatan Kapur IX, egency of 50 Kota. The result show: first, the writing ability of students’ descriptive text without methodContextual Teaching and Learning Model gest the average value 67,52 with more than enough for qualification. Second, the writing ability of students’ descriptive text using Contextual Teaching and Learning Model typo ih gets average score 76,52 with good qualification. Third, based on t-test, there was the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning Model toward the writing ability of the  students’ descriptive  text of students’ class seventh SMP N  1 Kecamatan Kapur IX,  regecy of 50 Kota because t-count is 5,06 and t-table is 1,67. The criteria of t-test are accepted if t-count > t-table. In other words, H1 is accepted and HO is rejected.
