Abstrak :

            This study aims to determine whether the understanding of mathematical concepts of students by applying cooperative learning model type think-pair-square is better than understanding the mathematical concepts of students by applying conventional learning students of class VIII SMPN 7 Solok Selatan. This type of research is experimental research with randomized design to the subject. The population of this research is the students of class VIII SMPN 7 south of the school year 2017/2018. The selected sample classes are class VIII 2 as the experimental class and class VIII1 as the control class. The instrument used is a final test in the form of essay (description) that is reliable. Data analysis techniques use one party t test. Based on hypothesis test results obtained thitung>ttabel, then hypothesis accepted so it can be concluded that the students 'concept of understanding by applying cooperative learning model of think-pair-square type is better than understanding students' concept by applying conventional learning of grade VIII students of SMPN 7 Solok Selatan.
