Abstrak :

            This research was based on the background of physics learning in class VII students at SMP N 28 Padang. The population in this study were seventh grade students of SMP N 28 Padang. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling, that is by random sampling and in the class VII.5 and VII.7 as the sample class. The data analysis technique used hypothesis is to use the Mann Whitney test because the data in the experimental class are not normally distributed while the control class is not normally distributed but the data group has a homogeneous variance. The average value of the cognitive domain of the experimental class is 66.97 while the control class is 67.81 the results of hypothesis testing for the cognitive domain are obtained, Calculated = 7.97 and Ztable = 0.997, the hypothesis in this study is accepted. In the affective domain the average activity of students in the experimental class is 60.62 while in the control class 57.10 so that it can be concluded that results of physics learning students apply learning starts type learning strategies whith a question affects student learning outcomes that apply learning models conventional in class VII of SMP Negeri 28 Padang.
