This study aims to determine the factors causing poor households in Nagari
Lubuk Betung Inderapura, Air Pura Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency, in terms of
factors, productivity and survival strategies. This type of research is qualitative.
Research in Nagari Lubuk Betung Inderapura, Air Pura District, Pesisir Selatan
Regency. The informants in this study were taken by snow ball sampling. The key
informant was the nagari guardian and the research informant consisted of the people of
Nagari Lubuk Betung Inderapura, Air Pura District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Data
analysis consists of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results of
the study found that: (1) Factors causing poor households in Lubuk Betung Inderapura
Nagari, low income that is Rp. 500,000 - Rp. 1,100,000 and under West Sumatra
Province UMR, the income runs out to meet daily basic needs, generally farmer's work
and do not have a side job. Average expenditure of IDR 250,000 - 1,000,000 / month.
The last education the average husband graduated from elementary school and the
average wife graduated from elementary school. Dependents include large, 3-8 people.
The average working hour is 8 hours / day by running a self-owned farm. Jobs other
than agriculture are not available in the Lubuk Betung Inderapura nagari. (2) The
productivity of poor households can be seen from the capital to do work, namely
adequate agricultural equipment and can support life. Some people expect capital
assistance from other parties to do work. Land ownership is generally self-owned and
(3) the strategy of survival of poor households is to look for a side job by being a farm
laborer, another strategy is a dual livelihood pattern with family members working so as
to increase family income.
