Abstrak :

        This research is motivated by the low activity of students in sociology subjects. What is seen from the activities carried out in the an ongoing learning process. The theory used in this study is behavioristic theory (S-R) according to Thorndike, the quantitative approach and the type of research is descriptive. This research was conducted with three meetings. The population in this study were all students of class X IIS 4 at SMA Negeri 2 Bayang, 2017/2018 school year. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, the sample of this study was class X IIS 4 which amounted to 34 students observed by observers. Data analysis techniques are carried out using percentage techniques. Based on the results of the study using the Probing Promting Learning can increase student learning activities, at the first meeting namely asking questions (47.05%), answering questions (47.05%) and low activity explained 15 students (44.11% ), brave 14 students (14.17%), give conclusions 14 students (14.17%) and the lowest is less than 13 students (38.23%), seen the activity of the second meeting of 20 students who did activities explained (58.82%), asked questions (52.94%), answered questions (61.76%), enthusiasm (44.11%), dared (47.05%) and concluded (55.88% ) And at the third meeting the student's activity increased as seen in the activity explaining (67.64%), asking questions (76.47%), answering questions (82.35%), enthusiasm (64.70%), courage (61.76 %) and gives a conclusion (76.47). It can be concluded that using the Probing Promting Learning can improve student activity in learning
