Abstrak :


This research was motivated by  some problem as follow. Students pay less attention to the news text structure. The vocabulary of students is still limited. Students have not been optimal in writing news texts because in understanding of language rules are still less. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using the Explicit Instruction model on News Text Writing Skills for VIII Grade Students in Public Junior High School 6 Solok City.The type of this research is quantitative research which using the experimental method. The design of this study is one group pre-test-posttestdesign, this study is conducted twice before being given treatment and after being given treatment. The sampling technique of this study is purposive sampling technique, the sample in this research is one class. The results of this research are (a) The results of the news text writing skills before using the Explicit Instruction model on News Text Writing Skills for VIII Grade Students in Public Junior High School 6 Solok City. Obtain a average value of 68.14 in the range of 66-75% that is qualified more than sufficient (LdC). (b) The results of news text writing skills after using the Explicit Instruction model on News Text Writing Skills for VIII Grade Students in Public Junior High School 6 Solok City. The average grade of 79.25 in the range of 76-85% is qualified as good quality (B), (c) The significant influence of the learning model of the results of news text writing skills before and after using the Explicit Instruction model for News Text Writing Skills in VIII Grade Students in Public Junior High School 6 Solok City. This is evidenced by the results of research that show that the value of tcount> t table (6.12> 1.90).
