Abstrak :

       This research was motivated by the following problems. The lack of students' understanding in writing the main ideas and explanatory ideas. This study aims to describe the ability to write description text by using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning approach of Class VII Students of South Pessr 4 MTsN. This type of research is quantitative using the description method. The population of this research is all VII grade students of South Coast MTsN 4. The sample in this study were class VII students, amounting to 28 people. The data in this study is the ability score to write a description of class VII students of MTsN 4 in South Sumatra using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This research can be summarized as follows. first, the level of ability to write descriptions of class VII students of South Coast MTsN 4 using the
Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach (CTL) obtained an average score of 73.61 with more than adequate qualifications (LdC). Second, the level of ability to write descriptions of class VII students of South Coast MTsN 4 using the
Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach (CTL) on indicator 1 (Title) with an average score of 94.04 with excellent qualifications (BS). Third, on indicator 2 with an average value of 69.04 with more than enough qualifications (LdC). Fourth, on indicator 3 the average value is 88.09 with excellent qualifications (BS). Fifth, on indicator 4 the average score is 72.61 with more than enough qualifications (LdC). Sixth, on indicator 5 the average value is 69.04 with more than enough qualifications (LdC). Seventh, on indicator 6 the average value is 46.42 with almost enough qualifications (HC).
