Abstrak :

This research was motivated by several problems. Students are less active in learning writing activities. Students also lack uderstanding of negotiating text and students also have diffficulty finding ideas that be made to write negotiating texts. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Model on the writing ability of texts of class X SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Basung Kabupaten Agam. This type of research was quantitative exprimental design. The design  of this study was Posstest  Only Control Design. The population of this research was grade clas X SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Basung Kabupaten Agam academic year 2017/2018. The sample of this reseacrh was class X students of IPS 1 (experimental class) and class X IPA 4 ( control class). The sampling technique of this study was simple random sampling. The data in the study were performance test scores resulting from students writing skills without and by used the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Model on the writing ability of the negotiating texts of class X SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Basung Kabupaten Agam. (a) The ability to wrtite negotiating texts without used Coperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model obtaining an average score of 69,97 which was more than sufficient. (b) The ability to write  negotiating text the used Coperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model obtaining an average score of 80.60 which was good. (c) hypothesis testing is done at 95% significance level with and hypohthesis (H1) accepted, opposed, the menthod of effective use of the writing skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Basung Kabupaten Agam.
