Abstrak :

            Backgrounds of the research were students' low mathematics learning outcomes, and students had not been able to find out the learned concepts by themselves. This study aimed to determine whether students 'mathematics learning outcomes by applying the Discovery Learning of learning Model was better than students' mathematics learning outcomes by applying conventional learning at class IX  SMP 3 VII Koto Sungai Sarik, Padang Pariaman Regency. It was an experimental research using a research design i.e. random to subject. Population was all students at class IX SMP 3 VII Koto Sungai Sarik, Padang Pariaman Regency. Sampling technique was lotting. The first lot was an experimental class (IX-1), and the second lot was control classes (IX-2). The statistics used to test hypotheses was  one-party t test. The research hypothesis test shows t_count = 1.69 and t_table = 1.67. Because t_count> t_ (table) then H_0 is rejected. In conclusion, the hypothesis is accepted. So, students 'mathematics learning outcomes by applying the Discovery Learning of learning Model is better than the students' mathematics learning outcomes by applying conventional learning at class IX SMPN 3 VII Koto Sungai Sarik, Padang Pariaman Regency.
