Abstrak :


This research is motivated by a lack of student understanding in writing news. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of the picture and picture learning model on the ability to writer news for class VIII students of SMPN 3 Lubuk Basung. This type of research is quantitative using the experimental method. The design of this research is One-Group Pretest-Postest Design. The population in this study was grade VIII students of SMPN3 Lubuk Basung who registered the 2017/2018 school year totaling 356 students and a sample of 36 students with purposive sampling technique. Data is collected using performance tests. The results of this study are, First, the ability to write news of class VIII students of SMPN 3 Lubuk Basung before using the picture and picture learning model in sufficient qualification (C) with an average value of 66.66. Second, the ability to write news for class VIII students of SMPN 3 Lubuk Basung after using the picture and picture learning model is in good qualification (B) with an average value of 77.37. Third, based on the results of this study there are significant differences in learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 3 Lubuk Basung before using the picture and picture learning model and after using picture and picture learning models in learning to write news. This result is proven by the results of the t-test at the level of 0.05 tcount (4.74)> t table (1.68). Thus, H1 is accepted. It means that there is the effectiveness of the ability to write news after using the picture and picture learning model rather than using the picture and picture learning model. Student learning outcomes in writing news after using the picture and picture learning model are more effective.
