Abstrak :

            This research was motivated by student learning outcomes that were still low and students tend to be passive, less participating or ashamed to ask questions in the learning process. This research aims to determine whether students 'mathematics learning outcomes by applying active learning strategies type Index Card Match is better than students' mathematics learning outcomes by applying conventional learning at IX grade students of Junior High School Taman Siswa Padang. This type of the research was Experiment, The sample was chosen by using cluster random sampling. The form of the test was description with test reliability r_11 = 0.95. Based on the results of the final test, both classes of samples were normally distributed and homogeneous. Test statistics using one-party t test. The results of hypothesis testing have been obtained t = count = 5.78 and t _ ((1-α)) = 1.67. Because t_count > t _ ((1-α)), the research hypothesis was accepted with a 95% confidence level. Based on the research finding, it can be concluded that student learning outcomes by implementing an active learning strategy type Index Card Match was better than student learning outcomes with conventional learning.
