Abstrak :

This study aims to describe critical thinking skills by applying guided discovery and knowing the improvement of critical thinking skills of class X students. This type of research is experimental research. The subject of this study was class X students. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling, the sample taken by class X as the experimental class. The instruments used were pre test and post test. In the interpretation indicator that reveals data / concepts / definitions / theorems in solving problems, analyzes who identifies assumptions and formulates problems, evaluates relevant arguments in resolving, inference that determines the consequences of a provision taken has increased because of guided discovery activities and training . Furthermore, the explanatory indicators decreased because many students did not answer the explanatory indicators. In Gain improvement students' critical thinking skills are not the same. A high percentage increase of 70% is in the medium improvement criteria. On the N-Gain the percentage of achievement is high which is 61% in the criteria of being.
