This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of physics students because there is still a lack of student learning interest during the learning process, and students are less creative, and the lack of interaction between students and teachers so students are embarrassed to express their opinions. To overcome this problem the writer conducts learning by applying inquiry learning models. Inquiry learning model or discovery learning model requires students to be able to search for and investigate a problem in a systematic, critical, logical, and well-analyzed way.This type of research is Quasi Experiment. Sampling is done by cluster random sampling. Data on physics learning outcomes are seen in 2 domains, namely cognitive, and affective. In the cognitive domain of data collection using essay questions as many as 8 items and in the affective domain using the observation sheet by looking at student activities. The results of student physics learning in the cognitive domain were obtained, the average value of the experimental class students 74.15 and the control class 58.29. Whereas in the affective domain the average activity of the experimental class students is higher than the control class, ie in the experimental class 75.31 has category C or sufficient and the control class 67.14 also has category C or sufficient. Learning outcomes were also tested by hypothesis with t (0.95) (66) = 1.669 and tcount = 6.38274 because of tcount > t (0.95) (66) then the hypothesis in this study was accepted. This means that the application of inquiry learning models that are accompanied by embedded tests have a good influence on improving the physics learning outcomes of class XI MIPA students of SMAN 14 Padang.
