Abstrak :

              This research is motivated by the students' low ability to write description texts. The purpose of this study is, first, to describe the ability to write description text before using the brain writing learning model assisted by image media. The population of this study was all seventh grade students of SMP N 1 Ranah Pesisir. The sample in this study were class VII students of SMP N 1 Ranah Pesisir, amounting to 32 people. The data of this study are the ability to write a description text before using the brain writing model assisting the image media and the ability to write description text after using the brain writing model assisted by media images of class VII students of SMP N 1 Ranah Pesisir. This research can be summarized as follows. First, the ability to write text descriptions before using the brain writing model with the help of a picture media obtained an average value of 61.11 is at the mastery level of 56-65% with Enough qualifications (C). Second, the ability to write description text after using the brain writing model with the help of a media image obtains a mean value -ata 71.70 is at the level of mastery 66-75% with more qualifications than sufficient (C). Third, based on the results of the t-test, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using the brain writing model with the help of picture media because of t-count> table (5.06> 1.70). So, it was concluded that there was an effect of using the brain writing model with the help of the media on the ability to write description text.
