Bukit Napa is located in Kuranji District, Padang City. On this hill has a diversity of ferns, but the species is unknown. In addition there is also the release of hilly land into a housing complex, this allows for the reduction of fern species. Like other vascular plants, ferns have roots, stems and leaves. Fern have many benefits, one of which is in terms of education, which is studied in class X on Plant material (Plantae). In SMAN 15 Padang, there are no teaching materials in the form of booklets. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of nails found in Bukit Napa, Kuranji District, Padang City and to determine the validity of the booklet resulting from the inventory of ferns as teaching material on plant material in Class X SMA / MA. This research is a descriptive research and development research, using the tessmere model. The results of research conducted in Bukit Napa, Kuranji District, Padang City, were obtained 2 classis, 3 order, 12 families, 14 genera and 16 species. The results of the teaching materials questionnaire in the form of booklets on ferns material produced is very valid with a validity value of 85.91% and one to one test of 90.43%. It can be concluded that the ferns found were 16 species and have been integrated into teaching materials in the form of booklets on ferns material (Pteridophyta), produced booklets with a validity value of 88.17% very valid criteria.
