Abstrak :


This research is motivated by several problems, among others, in the learning process the teacher uses a scientific approach, but has not been implemented properly. Learning is still teacher-centered, lack of activeness of students to ask questions, supporting media commonly used by teachers are source books, these problems have an impact on student learning outcomes. To overcome these problems used Discovery Learning learning model. This study aims to find out whether the application of the Discovery Learning learning model with the image media can improve the learning outcomes of class X SMA PGRI 1 Padang.This research is an experimental study with a Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design research design. The population in this study were all students of class X PGRI 1 Padang high school registered in the second semester of the academic year 2017/2018. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique so that the  of class X MIPA 3 was obtained as the experimental class and class X MIPA 1 as the control class. The instruments in the cognitive domain in the form of multiple choice questions. Data analysis was carried out by t-test. Learning outcomes In the cognitive domain with an average value, of the experimental class 76.96 and control class 60.7. The t-test results obtained t_count = 3.544> t table = 1.683 then H1 is accepted. So it can be concluded that the application of the Discovery Learning learning model with image media can improve the learning outcomes of biology domain in the cognitive of class X SMA PGRI 1 Padang.
