Abstrak :


Background of this research is the difficulty of students in understanding the material about exposition texts and developing ideas into exposition texts. This aim of this research is describing exposition text writing skills before and after using the Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) learning model and the effectiveness of the use of cooperative integrated reading and compositing (CIRC) models on exposition text writing skills of class X SMA N 2 Batang Anai. The design of this research is One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA 2 Batang Anai.The sample in this study were students of class X IPA 1 which amounted to 34 students. The data in this study are scores of exposition text.The conculution of this research are writing exposition text skills of Class X students of SMA N 2 Batang Anai before using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model obtained an average value of 52.02 at the level of mastery of 46-55% with qualifications of Nearly Enough (HC). Other,  exposition text writing skills after using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model obtained an average score of 75, 24 which was at the level of mastery of 66-75% with a qualification of More than Enough (LdC).  Based on the results of the t test it can be concluded that there is the effectiveness of the use of the Coopertive Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model with tcount> t table (8.66> 1.70) on expository text writing skills of class X SMA N 2 Batang Anai in periode 2017/2018.
