Abstrak :


The Background of this study is from the low learning outcomes from the students in the learning process. The students tend to forget the material which was taught at thr previous meeting. The purpose of the study is to find whether the students mathematics learning outcomes by applying the active learning strategy type Index Card Match (ICM) method is better than applying conventional learning method for the IX SMPN 27 Padang. The type of this study is experimental study. The study population consisted of the students from the class IX.1 to IX.7 at the SMPN 27 Padang. The sampling technique is done randomly and the class IX.1 is selected as the experimental class while class analysis technique used one tail test. The analysis in the final test shows that both classes of samples are distributed normally and homogeneous. From hypothesis test results, it is obtained that tcount = 0 is smaller than ttabel = 1,991 at. Thus, the research hypothesis is rejected. The result of the study shows that the students mathematics learning outcomes by applying the active learning strategy type Index Card Match (ICM) method is similar with applying conventional learning method for the IX at SMPN 27 Padang.
