This research is
motivated by biology learning process that does not run properly. Students
assume that biology is a difficult subject. This caused by students lack of
reading, low motivation to have the guidebook, and learning biology by
still using teacher center learning style. Therefore, students are less active
in learning biology, students learning outcome that are still under of Minimum Learning Mastery Standard
(KKM) which is stated as 78. The result of first midterm examination (UTS)
academic year 2017/2018 shows that there are 81,81% from 22 students for each
class in XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 did not pass the examination. This research is
aimed to know how is the correlation between the learning motivation
of XI grade students and learning outcome
in biology subject at SMAN 1 Batang Gasan
Padang Pariaman.This is a descriptive research with total sampling as the
sampling technique. The researcher gets the data by distributing questionnaire
to XI grade students of SMAN 1 BatangGasan academic year 2017/2018 that are
consisted of 44 students as the sample. The data are analyzed by comparing t_{tes}_{t}>t_{table}with
0,05 significant level.The research’s result that got from the 7 question indicators are ; 1)
the students’ diligence in learning), the
percentages is about 83,86% (good), 2). Persevering
in facing difficulties, the percentages is about 83,06% (good), 3). High
interest and attention to the subject, the percentages is about 86,74% (very
good), 4). Individual in finishing task, the percentages is about 81, 53% (good),
5). Do not get bored easily in facing the
routine duty, the percentages is about 77,65% (good), 6). Maintaining
the idea and things they convince, the
percentages is about 82,50% (good), 7). Enjoy
to have and solve problems, the
percentages is about 77,65% (good). The result of all indicators get
percentage, for mean result, as 81,85%. This learning motivation has product
moment (r_{xy} = 0.993) correlation. From the result above, it can be
concluded that, there are significant correlation between learning motivation
(x) and learning outcome (y) with giving contribution (KP) percentage about
98,60%.
