Today many people choose credit as a way to meet their daily needs. Housewives do credit based not only necessity, but rather because of following a lifestyle. Consumption ownership of a number of household nedds has shifted to a lifestyle that is needed by many people. The goal achieved in this reserch is to describe Motives of housewifes doing credit goods in Jorong Irian Nagari Ujung Gading District West Pasaman. The theory used in this study is the theory of consumption society by Jean Baudrillard. The informants of the study were taken by purposive sampling, amounting to 10 people. The data collection methode used were non participant observation, indepth interview, document. Analisis of the data in this study uses interactive analysis developed by Miles and Huberman, which is colecting data, after collecting the data disaggregated or reduced, after the data is sorted and he entered into the presentation of data, after the data is presented lastly the data is concluded or verivied. The result of this research concludeare Motives from Housewifes To Use Credit at Jorong Irian Nagari Ujung Gading District West Pasaman that is:1) Buy products as deposits, 2) Buy goods at price consideration, 3) Buy things in order to mantain the apprerance of self and prestige, 4) Buy goods to raise social status.
