This study discusses the effort of Teachers in Improving Historical Learning Ability at SMPN 10 Padang. This research emerged after observation at Padang 10 Public High School which showed that the quality of historical learning was not optimal. This shows that students' motivation has not been good, the enthusiasm to follow the social studies learning process that is less enthusiastic, students still seem to pay less attention to the teacher in teaching, talk to peers and turtles diligently in doing the assignments. The condition of students in the learning process has not been optimal because of the role of the teacher in the social studies learning process which has not run optimally. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to provide a description of social phenomena or symptoms. The selection of informants is determined by choosing a history teacher who teaches in class VII of SMP 10 Padang. Data collection is done by observation, interview, and documentation studies. Data analysis through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the results of the research conducted, it was found that teachers play an important and strategic role in determining educational success. The role of the teacher in improving learning skills consists of three aspects, namely: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The results of research and interviews of history teachers at SMPN 10 Padang have had these three abilities in the history learning process at SMPN 10 Padang.
