Abstrak :

The background of this research by understanding the concept of students’ mathematical is still low and groups’ learning has not been done well. The aims of this research to determine whether the understanding of the concept of students’ mathematical with applying the learning cooperative model the type of Think Pair Share (TPS) is better than to understanding the concept of students’ mathematical with the conventional learning on the students class VIII at SMPN 10 Sijunjung. The type of this research is experiment research, with the research design is random on the subject. The population of this research is a class VIII at SMPN 10 Sijunjung in the academic year 2016/2017. The technique sampling was conducted by random, was selected in the class of VIII.2 as a experiment class and the class of VIII.1 as a control class. The instrument used is a final test with the indicators on the understanding of concepts. The test used is the essay with the reliability of 0,82. The analysis of data used is the t test in the one hand. Based on the hypothesis test results it have obtained the value of ttabel=1.67 dan thitung=2.04. This hypothesis is accepted because thitung>ttabel with the real standard a = 0,05. The process of learning group has been running well. It can be concluded that understanding the concept of students’ mathematical with applying the learning cooperative model, the type of TPS is better than understanding the concept of students’ mathematical with the conventional learning in the class VIII at SMP N 10 Sijunjung.
