Abstrak :

        This research is motivated by understanding students' mathematical concepts that are still low and students are not accustomed to discussing or exchanging opinions. This study aims to determine whether the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who apply the active learning strategy type The Power Of Two is better than the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of students who apply conventional learning in class VII SMP 21 Padang. This type of research is an experimental research with random research design on the subject. The sampling technique is taken randomly. The research instrument is an essay-shaped final test. Data analysis techniques using one tail test. Based on data analysis of student values the research hypothesis was accepted, so it can be concluded that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of VII grade students of SMP 21 Padang by applying the active learning strategy type The Power Of Two is better than understanding the mathematical concepts of students who apply conventional learning.
