Abstrak :

  •         This research is motivated by the low student physics learning outcomes due to the lack of student interest in learning during the learning process, as well as student interactions with the teacher so that students have not fully explored the potential within themselves. This study aims to determine the effect of the contextual teaching and  learning (CTL) learning approach along with a speed test on the physics learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at SMPN 30 Padang. This type of research is quasi experimental research (quasi experimental research). Data on physics learning outcomes are seen in 2 domains, namely cognitive and affective domains. Student physics learning outcomes in the cognitive domain were obtained, the average value of the experimental class students was 75.20 and the control class was 72.15. Activity of the experimental class students was higher than that of the control class, namely in the experimental class 73.05 had enough categories and the control class 68.01 which had less categories. Furthermore, based on the results of testing the hypothesis using obtained  = 1.675 and  = 0.68 because  <  then 0.68 <1.675 of the hypothesis in this study was rejected. This means that the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) learning approach accompanied by the speed test has no influence to improve physics learning outcomes of  Grade VIII students of SMPN 30 Padang.
