This research aims to determine the results of learning the physics of students by using the prediction-observation-explanation learning model is better than the results of student physics learning by applying scientific approaches. This type of research is quasi experiment, with the Posstest only control group design research design. Sampling is done by the random sampling cluster technique. This study was implemented in two sample classes, namely Class VIII 1 as experimental class and control class VIII 3 MTsN 7 Pesisir Selatan. The instrument used in this study is in the cognitive realm of the final Test and the Affective realm in the form of an observation sheet. In the affective realm of student activity that is seen during the learning process. In experimental class, the average student activity value is 78 while the control class is 75. In the cognitive sphere of the hypothesis test results using the Mann-Whitney test, Uhitung = 129 and Utabel = 98, where if Uhitung > Utabel then the hypothesis was accepted. This research shows that student physics learning results with prediction-observation-explanation learning model is better than student physics learning results using scientific approach to vibration and wave material of class VIII MTsN 7 Pesisir Selatan.
