Abstrak :

This research was motivated by some problems in aspects of news text writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang. These problems include, (1) students find it difficult to develop ideas and ideas in written form (2),students' writing is often incomplete when writing news texts.This study aims to describe the effect of news text writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The results of news texts writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang before using the jigsaw learning model obtained an average grade of 72.02 with a mastery level of 66% -75% with more than enough qualifications (LDC). news text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang after using the jigsaw learning model gained an average score of 82.14 with a mastery level of 76% -85% with Good qualifications (B). The results of hypothesis testing have a significant effect on the jigsaw learning model on news writing skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang because tcount> ttable (6.49> 1.70).
