Abstrak :

This study aims to determine whether students' mathematics learning outcomes are better by applying the listening team active learning type than the scientific approach as IX of SMP Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. This research is an experimental study with a randomized research design on the subject. The population of this study were students in grade IX of SMP Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan Academic Year 2018/2019. The sampling technique is done randomly, with class IX. 1 as an experimental class and class IX. 2 as a control class. The instrument of this research is the final test in the form of an essay. The final test data analysis technique uses one-party t test. Based on the analysis of the final test it is known that both classes of samples are normally distributed and homogeneous. Hypothesis test results obtained  = 3.11 is greater than = 1.67 and can be collected by students 'mathematics learning outcomes by applying listening team active learning strategies better than students' mathematics learning outcomes by using the IX class scientific approach SMPN 1 Ranah Batahan.
