Abstrak :

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the students that have good achievement whose parents work as teachers that compared with the students whose parents work other than teachers. The purpose of this research is to determine the correlation between the profession of parents as teachers with student Achievement in SMP N 1 Sungai Aur, Sungai Aur District, West Pasaman Regency. The theory that used is cognitive theory proposed by Jean Piaget. The type of this  research is quantitative with type descriptive correlational. The population of this research is all students of SMP N 1 Sungai Aur whose parents work as teachers with a total of this research is 10 students. Take the sample using total sampling technique. The instrument used for this research is a closed questionnaire. Hypothesis testing using test Analysis Pearson product moment correlation. The results of data analysis show the value of rcount (0.835) >  rtable (0.5494), so that H0 was rejected and Hawas accepted. The correlation of the parent profession as a teacherwith student achievement has a very strong correlation with a correlation coefficient of 0.835. Thus it can be concluded that the profession of parents as teachers correlates significantly with the students achievement of class VIII and IX students. These results also show that the parents' that have knowledge about educating children it will make the children have good quality in learning process, so it will give good impact on the level of children's achievement.
